The Young (Part One)

The Young:
They’re only here at night and they call us in
and if we don’t come, then they will drag us.
Their cries ring out into the dusk
and each call is special to one of us.
We can’t seem to find our grip,
even though we reach out, our hands held high
and if our hands aren’t taken
we must reach out even further, even further.
They build their own cities much bigger than ours
and their calls are special to all of us.
And even though they dump their lives
they don’t own a piece of the splendid cities.

The Young (Part Two)
03:26

The Young (Part Two):
Building Cities on loose soil
they take their time.
Running up to the higher ground
they call the flood.
Crawl
They are taking all their things
and moving on.
As they leave they turn and watch
The buildings fall.
Crawl
It is bought?
It is made.

The Old:
The door locks behind him
and the boredom sets in.
So he sits and watches
the world outside.
And all the kids flooding their cities
remind him of when he was out there
and even though he knows they hate it,
He only wants to do it again.
He leaves traces far behind him
and he could save the cites.
But he’s stuck here traversing circles
as they make the same mistakes.
If only he could break the barrier
it would all turn out as he planned.
But their eyes are full of anger
directed at a small target.
Turn away.
Sometimes they come to him
and they pretend to hear.
When he turns to look out
the cracked window.

The Middle Aged:
When you’re feeling better.
We’re still waiting here.
Now we see your point.
You can’t be alone.
It was the most resistant,
but even it changed.
Even though you’re tired
there’s still a lot to do.
Better write that down.
You can’t bring it back.
A lot has changed.
Take what you need.
It was the most resistant,
but even it changed.
Time to come back in.
We’ll tell you everything.
